Californian Governor: Cancel the mobilizing National Guard in LA

Moskow (Antara) – Governor California Gavin Newsom demanded that the US Minister of Defense Pete Hegseth can cancel the mobilization of the National Guard in Los Angeles in the midst of protests in the city against the immigration policy of the US government.

The invasion by the American immigration and customs (ICE) was carried out to identify illegal immigrants in the center of Los Angeles City on 7 June, but the activity increased to collisions with demonstrators.

On the same day, Newsom threatened that the State could refuse to pay federal taxes in response to the possibility of slaughtering federal funds on a large scale by the government of US President Donald Trump.

On June 8, a spokesperson for the White House Karoline Leavitt said that 2,000 national guard troops in the city would be deployed in the midst of protests.

“I officially asked Trump’s government to cancel the use of troops that violate the law in the Los Angeles area and to bring them back under my order,” Newsom told X.

Moreover, the Governor of California mentioned the decision of the US Federal Authority as a violation of the rights of the sovereignty of the State.

California is traditionally considered a democratic camp and Trump has repeatedly criticized the state of the United States.

Last month, Trump threatened to reduce the state funds that were given to California for the participation of a transgenderatleet in various competitions.

Earlier, the Trump government had canceled a flood prevention project worth 126.4 million US dollars (around RP2.05 trillion), and criticized the handling of forest fires in California.
