Jakarta (Antara) – The Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) detected earthquake vibrations with a size of 5.0 that took place in the southeastern region of Pangandaran, West Java, on Monday (9/6) Night was felt for a number of Cilacap and Kebumen.
“The earthquake took place at 11.55 p.m.
The Earthquake Epicenter is located on the coordinates of 8.09 degrees southern latitude and 108.71 degrees Eastern border, or about 49 kilometers southeast of Pangandaran Regency, West Java, with a depth of 70 kilometers.
BMKG states that the earthquake is a type of average earthquake as a result of rock -distorting activity in the plate, with the mechanism of the movement of sloping thrust or sliding.
Based on the results of mapping BMKG shocks, this earthquake caused shocks with the intensity of MMI III in the Pangandaran area.

In the meantime, he explained that earthquake shocks with scale IIII mmi also felt in the Tasikmalayas and Cilacap, Garut, Banyumas, Kebumen regions in Central Java.
“II-III mmi or shocks really felt in the house and as if there was a truck that was over,” he said.
BMKG has currently not received a report on the impact of damage caused by the earthquake.
Moreover, Daryono added that the modeling results showed that this earthquake had no potential to cause a tsunami. It also noted that at least up to 00.20 WIB was not detected the activity of aftershocks.
BMKG urges people to stay calm and not to be triggered by information that cannot be justified.
“The community is expected to stay away from the building that is cracked or damaged by the earthquake. Make sure that the house or the building is free earthquake resistant or has not suffered dangerous damage before he returns,” he said.
