Jakarta (Antara) – The naturalized keeper of the Indonesian ladies national team, Iris de Mourning, emphasized that his decision to defend Garuda was not only a career step, but a form of respect for blood and cultural roots.
The Indonesian-Dutch-Dutch-Dutch player said that the call to play for red and white was something that he had felt emotionally for a long time.
“The reason I became a member of the Indonesian national team was in my blood,” Iris said when he met before he performed in Jakarta on Friday.
“This is not just about football, this is about representing and respecting my family, my origin,” he continued.
The statement was made during the Indonesian Women’s National Team Camp Training Camp Prior to the 2025 Asian Cup qualification that will be held in Tangerang at the end of this month.
Iris became one of the four new attempts who are expected to strengthen the Satoru Mochizuki team.

He added: “I always feel a close relationship with this culture and the country. I am very grateful to be here and I am proud to represent Indonesia.”
Although he had not yet recorded his official debut, Iris admitted that he was very enthusiastic about the first game with Indonesia. He also realized the amount of public expectations of the national team of women, but emphasized that he was ready to answer confidence with full dedication.
“I think the expectations are very high. But I will give everything to the country and I want to make this nation proud,” he said.
With a background as a communicative and tough modern goalkeeper in a situation on one on one, it is expected that the presence of Iris will increase the depth and quality of the back line of the Indonesian national team.
The national team of Indonesian ladies appears in the qualification of the Asian cup of 2025 ladies. Garuda Pertiwi inhabits Group D with Kirgistan, Pakistan and Taiwan.
Group D’s first competition is starting to be held on 26 June. Indonesia is planned for Kyrgyzstan, followed by a match against Pakistan (2/7) and closed with an important match against Taiwan (5/7).
