The Rupiah reinforced by the expectations of the Iranian agreement with the US

Jakarta (Antara) -Currency analyst DOO Financial Futures Lukman Leong is considering the strengthening of the Rupiah change rate (exchange rate) influenced by the expectation of the agreement between Iran and the United States (US) and Israel in the coming two weeks.

The Rupiah exchange rate at the end of Friday trade in Jakarta fell by 9 points or 0.06 percent to RP16.397 per US dollar of the previous RP16,406 per US dollar.

“The Rupiah reinforced somewhat against the US dollar due to the hope of an agreement between Iran-As and Israel in the coming two weeks,” he told Antara in Jakarta on Friday.

The Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (Jisdor) rate from Bank Indonesia has also weakened today at the level of RP16.399 per US dollar of the previous RP16.378 per US dollar.

Stating Anadolu Agency, US President Donald Trump rejected the explanation of the Wall Street Journal that he had approved an American attack plan with Israel against Iran. The report stated that the US president had approved a plan to attack Iran, but had not yet given a definitive order to implement this.

Trump would wait to see if Iran will stop the nuclear program in Fordo.

In the next two weeks, Trump said he would make a decision to be directly involved in attacking Iran or the US Army not to join the war that was deployed by Israel.

The announcement emerged when Trump was confronted with internal cracks in the Republican base with regard to whether he should join the Israeli campaign against Iran or not.

Leading figures, including media figures Tucker Carlson, Strategist Trump Steve Bannon, Senator Rand Paul and the Republican member Marjorie Taylor Greene have warned that the US is not involved in direct military action.

Many criticized that direct involvement would lead to Trump being entangled in foreign interventions that spent expensive costs, something that he vocally refused when nominating himself as president.

However, proponents of traditional Republican hardliners, including Senator Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham, have encouraged military action.

The White House itself emphasized that Trump’s priority was to ensure that Iran could not get nuclear weapons. Iran has denied that they are trying to obtain nuclear weapons.

The two-week period of Trump came about when Foreign Ministers from Germany, France and the British were planning to meet their partners from Iran this week to find diplomatic solutions for Israeli Iran conflicts.

They are expected to meet the Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi this Friday in Geneva, Switzerland.

On the other hand, Lukman assessed that the reinforcement of the Rupiah changing race was limited as sentiment risk-off on the domestic stock market.

“I see that investors still tend to avoid risk assets in the midst of geopolitical uncertainty and rates. Moreover, the decision of BI (Bank Indonesia) also disappoints investors,” he said.
