Jakarta (Antara) – Parma officially named Carlos Cuesta as their new head coach on Friday (6/20), making the Spanish coach the youngest coach in the history of the Italian League at 29 years.

Cuesta will replace Cristian Chivu who leaves at the end of the season.

“Parma Calcio is happy to announce that from 1 July Carlos Cuesta will be the coach of the first team of the men,” the club’s official statement was quoted from the Parma page, Friday.

Cuesta was bound by a contract with two years.

He came to Parma from Arsenal, where he had served as an assistant coach Mikel Arteta since 2020. Earlier he had also trained the Juventus Young team for two years.

The coach born by Mallorca who will even be 30 years old in July is also the youngest coach who is active among all European top coaches (England, Spain, Italy, Germany and France).

Parma has just returned to the promotion to the highest layers of the Italian League and was pressed in 18th place when Cristian Chivu was appointed as a coach in February.

In his first 13 games as a senior team coach, Chivu won three victories, three defeats and seven draws, which were enough to bring Parma to stay in the 16th position of the last classification Serie A.

Chivu then left Parma to return to Inter Milan, the club where he had played six seasons.

Carlos Cuesta would be an Italian media, better than a number of Italian coach candidates such as Daniele de Rossi, Alberto Gilerdino and Paolo Vanoli.

The new Italian competition season starts on August 23, but Cuesta is the ninth coach who was appointed this summer by the Italian league club.

At the moment there are two of the 20 Italian league clubs that do not have a head coach.
