St. Petersburg, Russia (Antara) – President Prabowo Subianto during a press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Palace of the Constantinovskiy, stated that the Indonesian people never had the help of the Russian Hand of the New Republy, especially in the Days of the Days of Republicia.

The president said that Russia helped Indonesia to build vital infrastructure, such as bridges, railway tracks, factories and large buildings in Jakarta and other cities.

“Russia helps us to pay debts back in a quick time. However, although we have finally returned our debts at that time for a few decades,” Prabowo President Putin said during a joint press statement in the Palace of Constantinovskiy, St. Petersburg, Russia, Thursday.

“When Indonesia was new in independence, and it was still very poor, the Soviet Union – at the time where Russia was the core, it was very useful for us. To this day, the Indonesian people forgot Russia’s help,” said President Prabowo.

That is why President Pabowo assessed that his meeting with President Putin today became the momentum of always close relationships between Indonesia and Russia who had been founded for 75 years.

“Today we met and our relationship is even higher. My meeting with President Putin took place very intense, cordially and productively in all areas today,” said President Pabowo.

President Pabowo paid an official visit to the Palace of Konstantinovskiy, St. Petersburg, Russia, on Thursday with the delegation of the government of the Republic of Indonesia.

The official visit began with a meeting of four eyes (Tete-a-tte) Between President Pabowo and President Putin. President Pabowo was accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono and cabinet secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, while President Putin was accompanied by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

The four -point meeting between the two country leaders lasted more than an hour.

Subsequently, President Pabowo and President Putin moved to other rooms to enjoy lunch, interspersed with bilateral meetings of two countries.

Six menus were presented by the Palace of Konstantinovskiy in the lunch event.

Then President Pabowo and President Putin witnessed the exchange of MOU documents signed by representatives of two countries, and the event continued with a joint press statement.

Finally, the official visit was concluded with a souvenir fair between President Pabowo and President Putin.
