RI Poody Poltekkes is the Center for Cooperation that Nursing has advanced



Jakarta (Antara) – The Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO) strengthens the development of health workers by officially appointing Indonesian Health Polytechnic Network (Poltekkes) as the Center for WHO collaboration for nursing and obstetrics and obstetric development.

As confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that the determination of the Polkkes as the center for cooperation that reflects national leadership in the development of health workers and the role of Indonesia more and more regional cooperation.

“Indonesia is proud that Polkkes is designated as a center for WHO collaboration. This is a recognition of our dedication to promote nursing and obstetric education,” Budi said.

The WHO cooperation center will focus on two priority areas, he said, namely supporting WHO in providing accredited clinical instructor training programs for nurses and midwives to improve the quality and consistency of education before providing health workers.

Moreover, he supports who in promoting the development of obstetric leadership with a focus on education, policy and service quality.

Polkkes has 38 campuses in 33 provinces, Budi said, so that it plays an important role in producing Indonesian health workers, in particular nurses, midwives and related health workers, who work in the center and first -line care throughout Indonesia.

He considered, this collaboration marked a new chapter of the collaboration of the Ministry of Health with WHO and reflected the ambitions of Indonesia to strengthen the health system through competent and authorized health workers.

“By investing in the education and the leadership of nurses and midwives, we want to improve maintenance throughout Indonesia and contribute to stronger health workers throughout the region,” he said.

Who regional director of West -Pacific Saia Ma’u Piukala said that this appointment was an important moment for Indonesia and for the Western Pacific region.

“Together with the new role of Indonesia in the West – Still Ocean, Polkkes showed that national experience could strengthen regional capacity and improve nursing and midwifery education for all parties. This is what we mean if we are talking about establishing health for families, communities and communities,” said Saia.

Since 2022 he said, who and Polkkes have developed 50 international class modules, trained 50 teachers in 24 campuses and gave intensive training in improving the quality of education on pilot campuses in Medan, Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Pontianak.

According to him, this helps Indonesia to maintain the density of competent health workers over the WHO minimal threshold of 44.5 doctors, nurses and midwives per 10,000 inhabitants, while increasing the competence and training of labor.

He said, the inaugural activity under the new center for cooperation of whom, namely the obstetric leadership program, was officially opened this week in Jakarta and brought together 20 obstetrics from Polkkes to strengthen the leadership capacity in the health of mothers and newborns.

Since 2000, he said, Indonesia has reduced the mother dying rate from 311 to 140 per 100,000 per 100,000 living births and mortality rates of toddlers from 52 to 1,000 living births, which reaches the target of sustainable development destinations 2030 for toddler destination figures and reached an upper threshold for motherly.
