Marta Klobles is one of the most respected authors on the national literary landscape. In the novel “What does Spring with Cherry Trees” (2022), Oaks will immerse his audience into the life of the creators of very different disciplines (musicians, writers, poets, sculptors, filmmakers, photographers …), many of them are stormy and torn amazing episodes as intensive as destructive.
It is an essay that immers us in the lives of various creators, but in fact what intends to deal with the relationship between emotions and artistic work.
That’s how it is. What I intend with “What does spring with cherry trees” is to prove that there is a direct relationship between love, heart break and creation. I do this through various stories of great creators: painters, sculptors, poets, writers …, in short, the creators of all disciplines showing that love is truly essential in all its works.
Choose a verse from Neruda’s poem as a title.
It is the last verse of the poems “XIV” from “Twenty Love Poems and a desperate song” (1924), and for me it is a symbol of the best love. Everyone, when we love, we think we are very good, that we are doing something amazing for the person we want, but we love each other many times. In fact, bad love is much more common than good love and lovemaking is not easy …
And what is “good love”?
For me he is the one who gets the best of the person who loves himself; That means the one that forces it blooms. And this is what spring does with cherry trees, so I chose this title. In addition, why Neruda is one of the protagonists of this essay.
After several novels (“less than five centimeters”, since 2017; “bad luck” of 2018 and “girl who did not know how to love”, 2020), in 2021 published “carnal passions”, essay and “what spring with cherry trees” watches the same line …
I always write about what I think is almost the only subject in literature and life. I always say there are two: love and death, but if you press me, I actually believe that the first is more important … because death is worried about unknown and basically, because it separates us from our loved ones and what is it, not if love? I think this is a problem that connects us all human beings that really distinguish us from other animals. Therefore, even though I pretended, even in my black saga, when I talk about dark cases and evil, I will end up in love. Note that the last name of the detective saga is ‘is’A girl you didn’t know how to love ‘ And another novel I get with him as a protagonist is called “Amada Carlota” in September.
And why is this dead end of an essay?
Because the story of a girl you didn’t know how to love my heart has touched me a lot. Therefore, I decided to pause and focus on these two exams. The first, about the kings of our history, but eventually also about love, because the idea was to prove that at short distances where large decisions are taken. In fact, he has “carnal passions” as the subtitle “Love of Kings who changed the history of Spain”. And then I wanted to focus on the love of creators, because I really believe that they have determined the future of their life and the history of human beings.
Death means the final point, but love (and breaking the heart) forces us to follow.
Many times people tell me that breaking the heart is more creative than love, and I answer yes, but to happen, there had to be a great love that occupied your head, heart and body, as Voltaire said; If not, if it is a simple crush, you will not achieve the same fruit as when love is true. But I will tell you one thing: Sometimes love is the beginning and is also final because it has the power to determine everything the human being does. Love is the beginning, knot and result.
Is it particularly surprised about the characters who play in this essay?
There are many. One of the things that captivated me, however, is to find out how many creators have brutally suffered throughout history for having different sexualities. For example, I like the story of Allen Ginsberg and Peter Orlovsky. Ginsberg is one of the parents of the Beat generation, a guy who has moved the culture of that time – literary and musical – with poems like Howl. Well, he fell in love with Orlovský, who was an actor and a heterosexual project. But they agreed to maintain an open relationship, but kept their own because they had a truly extraordinary love. And what they did was to get the best of the other; This means that each with the other “what spring does with cherry trees”.
In addition to the writer, she is a journalist and reviews all weekly news in La Razon. Why do you see what happens today?
When we walk through, it is complicated and, too often very discouraging. I am very afraid that we have become accustomed to believe that politics is essentially a confrontation between the parties, when our representatives would have to look forward to common good, independent of their own ideology. Because it is somehow what has been prevented from ancient Greece, a place where a parliament sits in which our politicians sit. I am revealed that in the end we spend much more time in the media and in our lives clashes between politicians and evil, which one does to others, to “plumb” -Dostat evil from the other -to try to achieve a common good, which is required for a good politician.
