Jakarta (Antara) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto unveiled an emotional moment when he was given the honor to call the orchid flower in Singapore with the name of the mother, Dora Marie Djojohadikusumo -Sigar.
The sentence was transmitted by the head of state when giving a welcome speech in a series of state visits and the first retreats of leaders between Indonesia and Singapore, in Parliament House on Monday.
“I feel very touched because I was given the honor to call a unique type of orchid,” he said in the network of the presidential secretariat in Jakarta.
In his official speech for Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and the ranks of senior officials of the two countries, President Pabowo mentioned the naming of the Orchid as a symbol of a deep personal respect for his mother.
“I was given the honor to present the name and I presented my mother’s name, as a form of respect for his services to raise me – perhaps a child who was quite difficult in his youth. But in the end he became president of Indonesia,” said Pabowo.
The ceremony for Orchidee -Name Ceremony is part of the Singapore Diplomacy tradition known as Singapore Orchid Diplomacy, namely the naming of special Orchid -varieties to respect state guests.
President Pabowo’s mother, Dora Marie Sigar, came from German -Blooded Minahasa and was known as active in the world of education, social and politics.
Dora studied in the Netherlands and became a specialized nurse after the position, where she later met Sumitro Djojohadikusumo, her husband later.
As a disciplined mother figure, Dora raised her children in a multicultural family environment and various beliefs, as a result of the values of Pancasila. He died on December 23, 2008 at the age of 87.
