Jakarta (Antara) – The provincial government of DKI has designed an institution called the Jakarta Film Commission (Jakarta Film Commission) to realize the city of Cinema that has been grown and art.

“Well, today is part of a long journey for us to form a commission that we say the Jakarta Film Commission,” said DKI place replacement Governor Rano Karno in the Jakarta Future Festival entitled “Development of Jakarta Cinema City” in Taman Ismail Marzuki Jakarta, Sunday.

Rano said that Jakarta is now being developed as an icon of cultural and artistic cities, so that Jakarta has been indirectly stated with all his industries in a cinema city.

Moreover, he has considered, almost all countries have film assignments such as Korea, Hong Kong, Tokyo and the Netherlands.

“If you have heard about Oscar. So ‘surprise’, they came to Indonesia, I had met, chat a bit and they were ready to help Jakarta form a film committee,” he said.

Nevertheless, Jakarta’s dream as a cinema city needs a long journey through the regional development plan for medium term (RPJMD) with regard to industrial development, so that films are expected to be one top priority.

“Musrembang is an idea of ​​the community, so that the Regional Development Office (Bappeda) has drawn up a plan yesterday,” he said.

Then he emphasized that this institution is not under the management of BUMD, but the Jakarta Film Commission (Jakarta Film Commission) is managed by professionals.

“He must be his own institution, but clearly not Bumd. He must be managed by professionals. There are two systems, it can be an investment management institution (Indonesia Investment Authority/Ina) and the Regional Public Service Agency (BlUD),” he said.

The formation of “Jakarta Film Commission” was established as a One Stop Service (Oss) Service Institution (OSS) or One Stop Integrated Service (PTSP).

The function is to include license, shooting location database, contact person with local talents and the most important promoters of Jakarta as film production destinations.

The Indonesian film industry recorded in 2024, a total of 122 million cinema viewers and made it the highest all time.

Of these, more than 65 percent or around 80 million viewers watched local films, so that it shows the dominance of Indonesian films on the domestic market.
