Jakarta (Antara) – Gamelan and graceful Balinese dances again heated the heart of Basel City, Switzerland, in the annual Gamelan Community Gathering (GCC) organized by the Indonesian embassy in collaboration with Basel Music and Gamelan Studio on 8 June 2025.
The Indonesian ambassador in the Swiss Ngurah Swajaya expressed his pride for the high price of the Swiss community for Balinese culture.
“I am very proud of the dedication of Balinese Gamelan teachers in Basel Academic Music who promote Balinese art and culture in Basel,” said Dubes Ngurah on Thursday in a written statement by the Indonesian embassy in Bern.

The GCC 2025 works again with a Gamelan composer from Bali, Krisna Sutedja, who appears as a guest controler.

The lively GCC takes place in the afternoon with an interactive workshop by Gamelan and Bali Dance that is directly led by teachers of Basel musicians. Visitors seemed enthusiastic about participating in the Bali Gamelan and Dance Training that was held on the sidelines of the main event.
GCC 2025 concerned dozens of students and students of Basel Music and FHNW Olten, who had the opportunity to study Gamelan instruments, play in complete ensembles and get to know Balinese dance more closely.
Via GCC, the Indonesian embassy in Bern emphasized its dedication to continue to present a cultural exchange room that reinforces Indonesia-swiss relations.
The success of GCC in the past four years has become clear evidence that Indonesian cultural arts have been able to exceed geographical boundaries and inspire the international community.
