Jakarta (Antara) – Minister of Youth and Sport (Menpora) Ario Bimo Nandito Ariotededjo ensures that Indonesia is ready to organize the Sudirman Cup 2027 and the 2028 Thomas & Uber Cup.
“What is certain is that we have confirmed that we are interested and ready,” Ditto said Antara questions in Jakarta on Thursday.
The statement was made after a direct offer from the President of the World Badminton Federation (BWF), Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul, who visited Indonesia last weekend.
During the visit, Khunying assessed a number of national sports facilities, including the Indonesia Arena in the Bung Karno Gelora area, Senayan.

Menpora said that Khunying was impressed by the splendor of Indonesia Arena and rated location It has a great potential to be the location of the most prestigious team of Badminton Championship in the world.
Nevertheless, Ditto admitted that there were still a number of technical obstacles, one of which was related to lighting in Indonesia Arena, so that the Super 1000 Indonesia Open 2024 tournament was canceled at the location with a capacity of 16,000 more seats.
“If Indonesia arena is chosen, there will of course be extra supporting facilities. We will submit according to BWF standards,” said Ditto.
He also emphasized that the government was ready to offer full support, while the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) would follow technical aspects and coordination between ministries.
If Indonesia is not possible, the government will also open an option for the use of alternative location such as Iistraa Senayan or a sports building outside Jakarta.
“We are waiting for a BWF decision to prepare ourselves immediately,” said Ditto.
