South Korea started the process of investigating the alleged corruption of former President Yoon



Ankara (Antara)-The South Korean presidential office, Thursday (12/6), officially asked political parties to submit the names of special public prosecutors that would lead a huge investigation into former President Yoon Suk Yeol.

The investigation includes Yoon’s failed efforts to impose martial arts, as well as alleged corruption with his wife, Kim Keon Hee, said the report of the South Korean news agency, Yonhap.

The move was taken after the South Korean National Meeting had approved three special laws last week, which opened the road for an investigation into Yoon and former First Lady.

President Lee Jae-Myung had to designate a special public prosecutor within three days of receiving the names of candidates from political parties.

After he has been appointed, every public prosecutor has 20 days to prepare for the first investigation, and the full investigation is planned to start early next month.

The Democratic Party that is currently in power has proposed three names of public prosecutors.

The investigation is expected to include nearly 600 employees, including 120 prosecutors, and can be extended to 170 days if necessary.

Former President Yoon who was dismissed from his position after the constitutional court strengthened the accusation in March, with a number of serious accusations.

One of them is to order the presidential security service to hinder the implementation of the detention warrant in January, in the context of the Martial Emergency efforts he has gained.

He was also accused of intervention in an investigation into the death of maritime corporal chae su-geun in July 2023.

Yoon denied all the accusations that were aimed at him.

He also did not filled the police investigation on Thursday and refused to be present for the second time in the Martial Emergency Case that was investigated.
