The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the fulfillment of the rights of two Indonesian citizens arrested in LA



JAKARTA (Antara) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) stated that the government will continue to ensure the fulfillment of the rights of two Indonesian citizens who were arrested in Los Angeles, California, in an immigrant attacker by the authority of the United States since 6 June.

“The consulate general of the Republic of Indonesia in Los Angeles will continue to fulfill the rights of the two Indonesian citizens in the legal system in the US,” said the director of the protection of the Indonesian Indonesian Foreign Ministry Judha Nugraha in Jakarta received on Wednesday.

The two Indonesian citizens who were trapped in the immigrant attack that led a major demonstration in LA was a woman with the initials ESS (53) whose status in the illegal US and a man with the initials CT (48) who had a history of narcotic drugs and illegally entered the US.

The Indonesian consulate general in Los Angeles is still coordinating with local authorities to gain access to consultation that are the right of the two Indonesian citizens, Judha said.

Judha also ensured that the Indonesian consulate general in Los Angeles had communicated with the families of the two Indonesian citizens. “We get information that the two Indonesian citizens will use the services of a lawyer,” he said.

In the midst of increasingly fierter enforcement and immigration raids in the US, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs appealed to the Indonesian citizens in the country Uncle Sam, whereby the use of a valid visa and in accordance with their designation and meets the local regulations.

Every Indonesian citizen who is planning to travel to the US is also advised to anticipate a tighter immigration study on arrival at the American airport.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also asked the Indonesian citizen affected by the immigration policy under President Donald Trump’s government to understand their rights in the legal system in the US, including the right to receive legal advisers and the right to contact the nearest Indonesian representative.
