Jakarta (Antara) – The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) ensured that the evacuation process for Indonesian citizens in Iran took place after the deterioration of the security situation in the country due to Israeli rockets attacks.
The director of the protection of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Protection of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Judha Nugraha via a written statement on Friday, the evacuation of the Indonesian citizens took place over the country.
Before the evacuation was active, the Indonesian citizens were ‘collected and spent the night at the Indonesian embassy in Tehran,’ said Judha.
However, the director of PWNI of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not reveal in more detail with regard to the number of Indonesian citizens and the estimated time before the arrival of Indonesian citizens to the country.
Separately, the coordinating Minister of Political and Security Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Budi Gunawan revealed that there were 115 Indonesian citizens who would be evacuated from Iran today.
“The first phase of the evacuation starts on June 20, 2025, with 115 Indonesian citizens who sent four buses from Tehran,” said coordinating minister Budi.
He said that the evacuation via land was based on safety reasons.
In addition, the head of the Information Center (Kapuspen) of the TNI headquarters Major Kristomei Sianturi added that the Indonesian citizens would be brought to Baku, Azerbaijan before they were repoded to the country on Sunday (22/6).
Earlier, the Indonesian Foreign Minister (Foreign Minister) Sugiono decided to improve the status of security standby in the Indonesian embassy in Tehran from alert 2 to alert 1, giving the green light to evacuate the Indonesian citizens of the country.
On the sidelines of a state visit in St. Petersburg, Russia, Wednesday (6/18), the Minister of Foreign Affairs revealed that the decision was based on the increasing intensity of Israeli attacks on Iran and the target of attacks that stretched from military goals to civil facilities.
