St. Petersburg, Russia (Antara) – The Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono said that his ministry was drawing up an evacuation plan for Indonesian citizens in Iran on land, after the conflict between Iran and Israel that has increased over the past two days.
Sugiono said that the evacuation of Indonesian citizens (WNI) in Iran could only be done per country.
“The plane can’t go there. The only land route,” said Sugiono in St. Petersburg, Russia, Wednesday (6/18) local time.
Currently, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said, there are around 380 Indonesian citizens in the Iranian region, especially in Tehran.
The Indonesian government assesses that the situation is increasingly unknown with the increasing intensity of the attack, which is not only aimed at military goals, but also civilian goals.

As an anticipatory step, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ordered the Indonesian embassy (KBRI) in Tehran to assess the evacuation plan and to implement the steps of unforeseen circumstances.
The status of preparedness at the Indonesian embassy in Tehran has also been upgraded from warning 2 to alert 1.
Sugiono said that communication with neighboring Iranians had been carried out to ensure a convenience of cross -border access if the evacuation of Indonesian citizens has to be carried out.
“We have also communicated with neighboring Iranians who are asked that when an evacuation occurs, our citizens get the convenience to cross the border because the situation is also increasingly unfavorable,” he said.

The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also established intensive communication with all Indonesian citizens in Iran to ensure that they continue to make contact with the Indonesian embassy, so that they can respond immediately if the evacuation process is carried out at any time.
Foreign Minister Sugiono also said that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Islamic Collaboration Organizations (OIC) will also hold an emergency conference in Istanbul, Turkey, Saturday (21/6), to discuss the development of Iranian and Israeli problems.
Since June 13, 2025, Israel has launched a large -scale attack on Iran by focusing on nuclear facilities in a number of Iranian cities and high military command centers.
Iranian media reported that until Wednesday (6/18), the death toll of Israeli air strikes in Tehran and other regions had reached 585 people. While a number of 1,326 other people suffered an injury because of the attack.
In response to Israeli attacks, the Iranian army launched a ballistic rocket to Israel that resulted in 24 killed people and 500 others injured.
Indonesia strongly condemned the Israeli attack on Iran. This action is a violation of the law and weakens the basis of international law.
