Ministry of Health Collaboration with Papua -Elimination of Malaria until 2030



BADUNG (Antara) – The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) has concluded an agreement with all governors in the Papua region to focus on malaria until 2030.

“There are two similarities that we agree on here, the first collaboration with all governors in Papua for a single target that eliminates Malaria in Papua in 2030,” said Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin Minister.

In the 9th Asia -Pacific Leaders’ Top about Malaria in Badung, Bali on Tuesday, the Minister of Health said that when eradicating malaria in Papua in addition to the provincial government and Papua -Guinea as a neighbor.

“Because this is an island (Papua and Papua -NEW -GUINEA), mosquitoes often cross between Papua and Papua -New -Guinea,” he said.

Budi Gunadi explained the importance of suppressing malaria cases in Papua, because in Indonesia 90 percent of the findings of the case came from the eastern part of Indonesia.

His notes, from 514 districts/cities, were released only 79 percent malaria, while the rest in Papua was dominated because it was difficult to eliminate.

“There is a bit in Nusa Tenggara and Kalimantan, but if we can end up in Papua, 90 percent is ready, the hope is that if we can improve Papua, we can eliminate malaria in Indonesia,” said Health Budi Minister.

He appreciated other regions in Indonesia, including Papua, who had tried to suppress Malaria, such as Tanah Ambu Regency, West Sumbawa Regency, Anambas Islands Regency, Balangan Regency, North Lombok Regency, Malinau Regency, Southya, Southy.

With regard to the district, Budi Gunadi gave prizes for their innovations such as the formation of malaria post at village level and education at the community.

Vice -Minister of the Interior (Wamendagri) Ribka Haluk, who also came from the country of Papua, ensured that he would be responsible for the development of related regional heads.

He congratulated the area that was successful with his innovation that oppressed distribution, but Papua became a big problem.

“About 90 percent (Papua) contributes Malaria -data in Indonesia, so this is one of the tasks that will be given to the governors. The task of the Ministry of the Interior is to ensure that the RPJMD in the Papua region of six provinces must be fully assigned or the funds were prepared.
