Jakarta (Antara)-Deputy Minister of Trade (Wamendag) of the Republic of Indonesia Dyah Roro Esti brought the importance of completing the Indonesian-European Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-Cepa) and cooperating in Ham Milieu.
In a bilateral meeting with vice -minister of Dutch international economic relations Michiel Sweers in Jakarta, Monday (6/16), Roro also discussed the potential of cooperation with the Netherlands in the sectors of the renewable, maritime and agricultural energy.
“We appreciate significant progress in the negotiations and encourage Indonesia and the EU to reach a substantial agreement this year. A number of issues related to non -Tariff provisions are in principle.
According to Roro, the regulation of Indonesia-EU CEPA is the best way for both parties to immediately create a more commercial environment to maintain economic well-being.
IEU-Cepa is also considered the best means of finding a middle ground related to regulations that have the potential to deliver unnecessary trade, are discriminatory and not in accordance with rules and principles World Trade Organization (WTO).
Moreover, Roro also emphasized the delay DevorStation-free regulations of the European Union Indonesia (EUD).
“The delay of EUD is greatly appreciated. However, it does not answer our biggest worries, namely the potential for side effects, especially for our small farmers. Indonesia regards this policy as discriminatory and counterproductive for global efforts together in overcoming climate problems,” he explained.
In the meantime, Vice -Minister of Dutch International Economic Relations transferred Michiel Sweers the potential of cooperation in the renewable energy, maritime and agriculture sectors, especially in improving infrastructure and digitization.
In the case of the completion of the Indonesia-EU Cepa, Sweers supported the CEPA settlement. Sweers also said that the EU policy with regard to the environment is to create sustainability, so it is necessary to think about the best ways that are mutually beneficial.
Based on data processed by the Ministry of Commerce, the total Indonesian Dutch trade reached 5.6 billion US dollars or an increase of 18.2 percent compared to the previous year in 2024.
The export of Indonesia was registered at 4.7 billion US dollars and imported 982 million US dollars. Indonesia therefore earned a surplus for Indonesia of 3.7 billion US dollars.
