“The president receives a lot of invitation to honor from different countries. But some of them are time to take place, and the location is far apart – Canada, Russia and Singapore. The government certainly appreciates all these invitations,” “
Jakarta (Antara) – Head of the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) Hasan Nasbi said that the absence of President Prabowo Subianto on the G7 High Level Conference (Summit) in Canada 15-16 June 2025 was caused by alignments on certain state blocks.
Hasan, at the PCO office, Jakarta, said that the main reason was because of the schedule conflict with a number of other strategic invitations that had been confirmed, including a state visit to Russia and Singapore on 16-20 June 2025.
“The president receives a lot of invitation to honor from different countries. But some are time – and their location is far apart – Panada, Russia and Singapore. The government certainly appreciates all these invitations,” he said.
Hasan Nasbi explained that the invitation that President Pabowo has received to attend various global forums – including St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (Spief) in Russia and annual retreats with Singapore – and prepared much earlier than the new G7 invitation received at the beginning of June.
He also emphasized that the presence of the president at Spief was a form of respect for Russian invitations that had been planned since March or April 2025 and the president was planned to give important speeches on the forum.
In the meantime, a visit to Singapore was also considered strategic, because it has the potential to produce more than 10 bilateral cooperation with high value for Indonesia.
Hasan claimed that the position of Indonesia in foreign policy remains consistent in the free and active principle, without leaning to a block.
“So, Indonesia is not leaning towards a block, we don’t see the black -white world. So speculation like this, like the tendency to this block, it doesn’t exist. We just completed important milestones for the OECD membership, while we are also active in Brics, G20 and Apec,” he said.
According to him, the participation of Indonesia in various international forums, both by Western and Eastern countries, is entirely based on national interests and strategic benefits for the nation.
“We will not enter the military block, Defense Blok. We are included in the economic block as long as it is beneficial for our nation. So it’s about,” Hasan added.
The government hopes that the public will not remain imprisoned in the geopolitical story that the position of Indonesia in the vicinity of the president of the president is based on an international forum based on careful consideration and a predetermined deployment schedule.
