“Yes, thank goodness, the document we have,”
Banda Aceh (Antara) -The ACEH government has drawn up a Joint Agreement document from 1992 between the governments of ACEH and North Sumatra to bring a meeting with the Ministry of the Interior with regard to the ownership of four islands that are still disputed.
“Yes, Alhamdulillah, that’s the document we have,” said the head of the regional government and the regional autonomy agency of Aceh, Syakir, in Banda Atjeh on Monday.
The statement was delivered by Syakir on the sidelines of receiving student action at the office of the Aceh Governor, who demanded the return of four islands that were again submitted to Noord -Sumatra, who again belonged to ACEH.
For information, the governor of Athjeh, Muzakir Manaf is planned to hold a joint meeting of the Minister of the Interior with regard to the polemic ownership of four islands with North Sumatra, in Jakarta, Tuesday (6/17).
He said that the joint agreement of the two provinces in 1992 determined the status of ownership of the four islands that are now in dispute.
The joint agreement of 1992 was signed by Aceh Gouverneur Ibrahim Hasan with Noord -Sumatra -Gouverneur Raja Inal Siregar and was seen directly by the Minister of the Interior Rudini.
“We explained again that in 1992 there was an agreement that tells the story of the four islands in the AEH region,” he said.

Syakir said that the parties’ agreement was binding on the two provinces. In addition, the Government Regulation (PP) 141 of 2017 also emphasized with regard to the confirmation of regional boundaries with regard to regional boundaries.
“In Article 3, paragraph 2, Letter F (pp 141 of 2017) is stated, one of the regional border spending documents is the agreement of the two regions that borders. That is why we hope that the president can solve this problem, and the island is back for Aceh,” Syakir said.
The issue of four disputes about islands in the AEH Singkil region between Aceh and North Sumatra has been going on for a long time. Both claim property.
The four islands are Pulau Panjang, Lipan Island, Mangkir Gadang Island and Mangkir Ketek Island.
Subsequently, the Ministry of the Interior issued Decree number 300.2.2-2138 of 2025 with regard to the provision and updating of code and data on areas for government and island administration, adopted on 25 April 2025.
The decision of the Ministry of the Interior has established the administrative status of the four islands as part of the area of Central Tapanuli Regency, the province of Noord -Sumatra.
The government of Aceh is currently still trying to argue the return of the four islands to the Aceh region.
