Jakarta (Antara) – World No. 1 Jannik Sinner claimed to have difficulty sleeping after a bitter defeat of Carlos Alcaraz in the final of Roland Garros last week.
In the press conference of praturn names on Terra Wortmann Open in Halle, Germany, Sinner admitted that the pain about the defeat had influenced him. Yet he said he had returned to concentrate on efforts to defend the title on ATP 500 Halle Grass Fields.
“Often,” Sinner said, speaking in German, when he was asked if he was’ sad “last week, quoted from ATP on Sunday.
“That happened. I don’t know how in the future. I think it’s not the most important thing, but I still try to forget negative things and see what I can do here (in Halle).”
“For me, playing in another tournament is a positive thing, because every match is a new start and I must be mentally prepared to give the best on the field. That is why it is very pleasant to be here in Halle,” said the Italian.
“But yes, I didn’t have to sleep several times, but I think the situation gets better every day. My family and friends support me. That is the most important thing for me.”
“Tennis is important in my life, but my family and friends are more important. Yet I often think of the competition,” said Sinner.

The method that is used by Sinner to help him immediately forget his disappointment in Paris is not complicated. The 23-year-old tennis player returned to his house to spend time with the people who knew him the most.
“I am very relaxed with my family. We talked for a moment and plays table tennis with my friends,” Sinner said.
“It is very normal, there is nothing special. I like to go home when many things happen. I feel safe at home and with my friends. They know how I am and how I was before. They knew me very well.”
In the coming weeks, Sinner hopes to continue the developments he made in his lawn game in 2024.
The mission will start in Halle, where he lifted his first lawn trophy last year in his first championship as a tennis player No. 1 world. This year he was confronted with the qualification in the first round.
Sinner arrived in ATP 500 Germany, which is famous for his relaxed rural atmosphere and tennis player at the location on Friday (6/13) morning. Then on that day he took the racket for the first time since his defeat from Alcaraz.
“The first training session went well. I have not played since Paris, so my feelings in general are not that perfect,” said Sinner who has a 18-2 record for 2025 according to the winning/losing ATP index.
“I think a good lawn player can move well. The ball can bounce a bit strange because of the grass, and you have to be smart. But in general this is the surface that lets me step last year and we will see how the results this year.”
