"Taxamnestie" must be a sustainable tax reform

Jakarta (Antara) – The Indonesian Tax Consultant Association (IKPI) emphasized that “tax amnesty” AKA tax amnesty should be the general and sustainable basis of the reform of the Indonesian tax system.

“If this tax amnesty is only a forgiveness for mistakes from the past without system reform, we will only repeat errors,” said chairman of the Indonesian Tax Consultant Association (IKPI), Vaudy Starworld in Jakarta on Saturday.

That is why, according to him, there must be an institutional reform, which strengthens compliance and it is important that there should be no repetition in the short term

Vaudy stated that in the discussion panel “Tax Amnesty: effectively speed up and increase tax revenues?” In the IKPi building, Pejaten, South Jakarta.

“Taxamnestie” is included in the national legislative program or priority priority priority 2025.

He considered that the program was not only a tool to pursue state income in the short term, but must form the basis for the reform of the Indonesian tax system as a whole and sustainable.

Vaudy explained that Indonesia could not continue to use “Taxamnestie” as a patchwork solution.

That is why IKPI submits the most important recommendation, so that “tax amnesty” as a systemic reform instrument. “The need for institutional reform, including the encouragement of the creation of the State Revenue Agency (BPN),” he said.

Subsequently, the compliance infrastructure and assets reporting systems strengthen and you will not repeat any “tax connection” in the near future to maintain the credibility of the system.

According to Vaudy, the potential of “tax connection” when distracting the underground economy to the formal sector. This is expected to encourage an increase in the “tax ratio” and fair economic growth.

“If the ‘tax ratio’ is already high and compliance has already been set, we will of course do not need ‘tax connection’ in the future. But now this can be a transitional instrument for a healthier and strategic tax system,” he said.

IKPI Secretary -General, Assistantial teacher Edy Gunawan. Added evidence of the success of “Tax Amnesty” in 2016 was able to discover assets of RP4.884 trillion.

The data, Edy said, helped filter the country and detect the potential for taxes that was previously hidden.

Subsequently, about the momentum of the implementation of “tax amnesty”, according to him, if this program is kept too often in a short period, its effectiveness will decrease.

Literature and experience indicate that, if too close to the previous program, the results will be minimal.

“But if it gets a break from 10 to 15 years, this has a stronger impact on both income and compliance with the taxpayer,” he said.

IKPi therefore hopes that the government not only sees ‘tax amnesty’ as a short -term solution, but as a momentum to build long -term architecture.
