Macron: France will defend Israel if it is attacked by Iran

Istanbul (Antara) – France will participate in operations to protect and defend Israel, said President Emmanuel Macron, taking into account “assets” and able to do this.

“I said our willingness in this issue,” Macron said Friday.

But he said that France would not participate in operations that were “attacks”.

“With a high risk of destabilization for the entire region, France called on all parties to remember as much as possible to prevent escalation,” he said.

“The issue of Iran’s nuclear program is a serious problem, existential problem. This problem must be solved by negotiations,” said Macron.

Moreover, he regretted the fact that Iran did not respond seriously by the American proposal with regard to a limited low uranium enrichment permit.

“I say very clearly: Iran is developing nuclear weapons with the risk of threatening regions (the middle), Europe and wider, joint stability. We cannot live in the world where Iran has an atomic bomb because it is an existential threat and threat to our safety,” he said.

Macron also emphasized that he recently did not participate in Israeli operations or its planning.

“What happened in the past hours should not distract us from the need to determine a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, accompanied by the liberation of all hostages and mass humanitarian aid for the Palestinian population-which is the target of humanitarian blockade that cannot be justified,” said the French president.
