He said that when importing the cattle, his party did not use the State Budget (APBN), but previously encouraged entrepreneurs to bring pregnant female cows to the country.

In addition, he said, there will be 2,000 pregnant female cows in the near future, and this will be done in phases, so that the target of importing dairy cows this year is fulfilled.

Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita supports the efforts of the Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman to demand the milk processing industry (IPS) to absorb domestic fresh milk (SSDN) from breeders and gatherers as industrial rough material.

“This step proves the coordination of the government with the farmers of people,” said the Minister of Industry.

The Minister of Industry stated that the current production of domestic SSDNs only meets the needs of the milk processing industry by 20 percent or approximately 750 thousand tons.

Of this quantity, about 530 thousand tons of fresh milk raw materials supplied by the Indonesian Milk Cooperative Association consisting of 59 cooperatives and 44,000 breeders with milk quality confidence standards. While 80 percent of the needs of milk group substances still have to be paid in the interest.

It was said by the Minister of Industry, the national milk processing industry was able to grow on average five percent per year, while the growth of domestic fresh milk production was on average 0.9 percent per year. This causes the majority of domestic milk to be met, because the gap between SSDN raw materials and larger imports.
