The Internet Safety Office (OSI) has warned a new case of fraud in which criminals by massaging SMS messages to mobile phones that replace the identity of E emails to obtain the data from the victims and to cheat them.
His mode operandi consists of contacting the possible victim via an SMS message in which they ensure that, in order to receive their package, it has to pay a small amount that corresponds to customs rates.
To do this, they contain a link that is diverted to a web page where a payment request appears. Once there, if bank details are placed, criminals can steal the money. So far, it has only been noted that they work via SMS, but it is not excluded that they start sending e -mails or instant messages. According to OSI itself, fraud is a meaning of average level.
What to do in the case of receiving the SMS
If the SMS has been received and the link has not been pierced, nor personal or bank details have been entered, it is not necessary to do something. It is sufficient with the erasing of the message.
In the event that the bank has contributed, the OSI gives a series of recommendations to follow:
Contact the bank to communicate what happened and therefore take appropriate measures, such as blocking your credit card or payment card. In addition, fundamental assessment assess the latest banking movements and, in the case of something suspicious, to ask for its cancellation of the banking talent.
Make screenshots of fraudulent messages, of the map costs that are part of the fraud and, if possible, of the fraudulent website, to be able to attach them to the complaint before the State Security Troops and Bodies (FCSE), these are different recommendations.
