Jakarta (Antara) – Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development (Menko IPK) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) focuses on 100 percent clean water access in 2045.

“Currently, the scope of access to clean water clean water is around 22 percent. Based on the National Long -Term Development Plan (RPJPN), we focus on 40 percent, and in 2045 we expect 100 percent,” said Ahy, in Jakarta, Friday.

Ahy invites all stakeholders to jointly build a sustainable water system.

We will not reach 100 percent access to clean water in 2045 if we work silo, individually, and not integrated. We have to coordinate for that. We have to consolidate, “he said.
Ahy emphasized that the issue of water must be the most important development agenda for global safety. Water is not only a developmental problem, but also global security. It reports a report on the World Water Development Report of the United Nations that 2.2 billion people in the world are still alive without the access to drinking water and 3.5 billion people do not have the right access to sanitary facilities. Indonesia itself with a population of more than 280 million is also confronted with similar pressure.
“The question is, our natural resources, including water, are able to support the increasingly larger population? A number of international institutions have registered 1,600 conflicts or incidents with regard to water. It is of course when the UN subsequently encourages the importance of water diplomacy,” said Ahy.
He also praised the role of special envoy Indonesia in water diplomacy and conveyed the most important challenges of this sector.
