Jakarta (Antara) – Chairman of the 2025 Presidential Cup Steering Committee (SC) Maruarar Sirait proposed the use of foreign referees in the preseason tournament to maintain the integrity and spirit of Fair Play.
Maruarar said that the use of competitions from abroad is a realistic option if necessary.
“If we need foreign referees, it is also okay. Later, if the budget is missing, I will search,” Maruarar said at a press conference in Danarreksa Tower in Jakarta on Friday.
“The most important thing is that I do not want to hear that there are problems about reputation, referees and score schemes. It must be maintained.”
He added that so far the Presidential Cup tournament had shown an obligation for clean and professional implementation.

In the future, supervision of the Fair Play aspect will be further tightened by independent parties.
“I will ask everyone to take a good look, so that it can really play honestly,” he said.
This step received the attention in the midst of increasing the public expectations of the implementation of transparent football competitions and free of intervention.
The Presidential Cup Tournament is planned to start on July 6. This competition is participated by six teams, namely Persib Bandung, Dewa United, Arema FC, Port FC, Oxford United and Indonesian All-Star.
