Jakarta (Antara) – The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) immediately has the director -General of the police (Dirjen Gakkum) to maximize the control of illegal mines in Indonesia.
“The director -general of Gakkum will soon be inaugurated. For the organization,” said Vice -Minister of Energie and Mineral Resources Yuliot Tanjung when he met at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jakarta, Friday.
Yuliot said the president had established who the director would be general, but he did not reveal who the figure was. What is clear, he said, will soon be inaugurated.
Before there was the director -general of Gakkum, Yuliot said that the evaluation of the Mining Business Permit (IUP) had been going on since 2022. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources had evaluated IUPs who were not involved, and there were already 2,078 IUPs that were considered in 2022.
In the future, he said, the director -General of Gakkum will be tasked to see which IUP owners meet the mining activities that have been determined by the government that IUP owners are obedient to the licenses they have received, until the economic impact of every IUP.
“Until how many employees are absorbed (by the presence of the mine), there will be an evaluation later,” said Yuliot.
Earlier, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia had stated that the directorate of the police that was immediately formed at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, would be led by the authorities, ranging from the police, the army or the officers of justice.
Bahlil admitted that so far the management of mining in Indonesia has not been transparent. That is because Bahlil has found a report about the work plan and the budget of the current year in the Mineral and Coal Mining Business Activities (RKAB) slowly in the issue process.
That is why, with the addition of the new directorate in the institution he leads, Bahlil hopes that the directorate general of Gakkum can solve the problem of Mijnbouwbedrijfslijks (IUP), while mining management in Indonesia is becoming more transparent.
