Jakarta (Antara) – PSSI chairman Erick Thohir asked all the relevant parties to ensure that all matches of the fourth round of the qualifications of the World Cup 2026 were fair.
“I ask AFC and the two hosts to be able to hold all competitions in the four rounds Run Fair and Sporty,” Erick said in a written statement in Jakarta on Saturday.
“We respect and welcome the decision of AFC to name Qatar and Saudi Aarabia as host. Indeed, the two countries have world -class football infrastructure, and this will certainly be an extraordinary atmosphere of competition,” he continued.
Six countries participate in this phase, namely Qatar, Saudi Aarabia, United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Oman and Indonesia.
Erick emphasized that Pssi would continue to work hard to ensure that Garuda appeared with the best preparation, both in terms of technical, tactics and mental players.
He hopes that all Indonesian football fans will pray and support the national team where the competition takes place.

“This is a very important phase in the history of Indonesian football. We will try to prepare the team as well as possible, with the full support of all parties. We also believe that the match will take place fairly, professionally and maintains the spirit of sportiness,” Erick said.
“It doesn’t matter where we play, Garuda’s Vechtgeest will always be brought to the field. We want to cut history and it has started with hard work since today,” he concluded.
The drawing of the fourth round group division will be held on July 17 and based on the FIFA ranking updated on April 3, 2025, the possibility of pot 1 will be occupied by Qatar and Saudi Aarabia as the highest FIFA ranking team compared to four other countries.
Then Pot 2 was occupied by Iraq and the United Arab Emirates, while Indonesia and Oman in Pot 3.
Nevertheless, the ranking position of FIFA could have changed after the update of 10 July, which influenced the determination of the pot of July 17.
