Ironing is one of the most annoying home tasks that can be performed by machines within a few years. This is the idea of two young Londoners who have designed a robot who is able to iron and dry clothes without human interaction.
The prototype is ready to jump on the market in March next year in exchange for around 780 euros, although reservations are already available. After three years of work, Rohan Kamdar and Trevor Kerth, these two British engineers, built 40 prototypes until they find the perfect machine that can iron in just over five minutes.
Effie, the name of the robot, weighs 35 kilos and can iron up to twelve clothing in one session. It also admits almost all kinds of materials. The British machine is able to iron from T -shirts to towels and pillows, through pants, dresses, socks and underwear and also has an option with which it can perfume the clothing at the end.
Moreover, Effie is designed to be transported by its customers with the dimensions of a small cupboard. The robot contains a dozen hangers to hang the clothes and start the ironing and drying process.
To do this, the user must pour distilled water to start the steam function and program the ironing process on a small touchscreen that Effie has included. The work is done in just under six minutes.
Moreover, the robot will have its own app in which it will be aware of whether you need more water to keep working or whether he has completed his task.
