34 -Jear -old, higher graduated and with an engineering title. This is the average profile of the Spanish entrepreneur. On the other hand, the woman, who only represents 17% of the projects presented.
They decide to bet on their own idea to change in 23% of the cases in their professional career compared to 15% of men.
In addition, startups that are led by women fail less, in particular only 48% failed compared to 66% of men. It is possible that entrepreneurs are more conservative when managing the resources they have. Depending on the results obtained, they are more daring in the amount of the financing they demand (half of them ask between 50,000 and 500,000 euros), although more careful in the estimate of their income, because 30% plans to invoice less than 50,000 euros.
The dedication to entrepreneurship is strengthened in Spain as a meditated workers’ option, not the result of a need: only 1% of entrepreneurs were rather unemployed and 56% previously worked on behalf of others. According to the analyzed data, the main reason to start a project is also seen none other than a real business opportunity, as mentioned by 8 out of 10 entrepreneurs.
Ambitious
At the same time, entrepreneurs are increasingly becoming ambitious. In that sense, the number of companies that are waiting for tripling between 150,000 and 500,000 euros this year is tripled compared to 5% that this figure was able to reach in 2015. In Spain, half of the existing startups are related to the service sector, while in Europe the king is the software.
To launch these projects, more than half of the entrepreneurs take their own resources, so it is not surprising that financing remains the most important challenge with which they are confronted. In Spain, however, the startup financing model is professional and 19% of the resources are already private funds, bank loans and crowdfunding.
But it is not the only objective that entrepreneurs are pursued, 7 out of 10 are involved in generating visibility for their project, getting strategic partners or new customers and 40% is also interested in attracting talent.
