Jakarta (Antara) – Coordinating Minister of Legal, Human Rights, Immigration and Correctional RI Yusril Ihza Mahendra said that the relationship between Indonesia and the United States has a long history and continues to experience development.
In the celebration of the 249th Independence Day of the United States in the hands of the American embassy in Jakarta, Tuesday (10/6), Yusril said that cooperation between the two countries comprised different fields, ranging from diplomacy, economy, to safety and defense.
“The United States are one of the important partners of Indonesia in the region. Our bilateral relations are developing rapidly and are based on a joint obligation to maintain regional stability and safety,” said Yusril, in his statement as confirmed in Jakarta Thursday.
In the defense sector, continued Yusril, the US is the most important partner in strengthening national capacity while the regional peace is supported.
While in the field of trade and investments, cooperation between the two countries shows a positive trend.

Yusril therefore stated that the US is one of the most important economic partners for Indonesia. The bilateral commercial value between the two countries has continued to establish the highest record in recent years.
“This shows the increasingly stronger level of trust between business actors of the two countries,” he said.
He hopes that the relationship between Indonesia and the United States as a whole will be strengthened, not only in collaboration between the government in all aspects.
He also emphasized the importance of building strategic partnerships that respect each other.
