Istanbul (Antara) – Türkiye will produce and export 48 Kaan fighter jets to Indonesia on the basis of a new agreement in the field of defense, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Wednesday (11/6).
In an upload on platform X, Erdogan praised the Kaan project contributions, in particular the secretariat of the Defense industry (SSB) and the Dirgantara Turkish Industry (TAI), because the export agreement was signed, the value of which would establish a record.
Indonesian local possibilities will also be used in making Kaan, he said.
“I hope that this agreement, which confirms the progress and the reach of the domestic and national defense industry, will benefit Türkiye and Indonesia,” said Erdogan.
Kaan, the 5th generation fighter jet made by Tai, made the first flight last year at a speed of 230 knots and a height of 8,000 feet (about 2,438 meters).
Türkiye is currently one of the few countries that controls advanced technology.
