Transparency and integrity are priority for reform the Hajj Governance

The chaos that took place so far was caused by weak transparency, accountability and integrity

Jakarta (Antara) – The Hajj Organizing Agency (BP Haji) states that transparency, accountability and integrity will be a top priority in the reform of the pilgrimage for future implementation.

Deputy head of BP Haji Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak said that these three things were the most important basis that was always emphasized by President Prabowo Subianto when forming this new institution.

“The chaos that has taken place so far is caused by weak transparency, accountability and integrity. The president repeatedly emphasizes that BP Hajj must be an institution with high integrity in the management of the pilgrimage,” said Dahnil on Wednesday in Jakarta.

Dahnil emphasized that the implementation of pilgrimage is a matter of publicity that should not be contaminated by the practice of manipulation or corruption. These three values are then crucial to overcome the problems that the Indonesian Hajj services have overshadowed.

“This is a problem of the people. So there should be no more practices of manipulation or corruption in management. That is always a warning from the president,” he said.

In addition to institutional aspects, BP Hajj will also ensure that all pilgrims must have high integrity and responsibilities when performing their duties in the field. For this reason, the recruitment and training process of pilgrims will be tightened in the future.

“During this time, the pilgrims have only attended the training for 3 to 5 days. In the future, recruitment will be carried out from the start and officers will follow at least one month of training in the training center,” said Dahnil.

He explained that the service to pilgrims was very dependent on the willingness and professionalism of officers. That is why the training system will be designed more adults and more extensively.

In addition to the integrity of the officers, the system improvement will also be aimed at the health aspects of pilgrims. Dahnil said that inappropriate health reports were one of the most important highlights of the Saudi Arabian government.
