In logistics, the last mile is spoken as the last process of spreading a merchandise. They can be few kilometers with regard to the total, but it is exactly where many problems can happen and much of the efficiency of this work can be lost.
A Spanish ‘Startup’, Wagongo, wants to solve part of this problem with a sustainable alternative: electric tricycles. The platform is already prepared for sending packages and goods of any size (up to 100 kilos of weight), provided that they have origin and destination in the same city.
He has designed electric tricycles with which his distributors can also go to areas that are limited by CO2 and pedestrian emissions. His CEO and founder, Miguel Ángel del Pino, argues that the improvement of delivery times in short distance and respect for the environment led them to implement this project.
The company argues that, despite technological improvement, prices for both private individuals and companies are competitive. And he states that his goal is to do a delivery in less than three hours.
Del Pino explains that the tricycles are led by the well -known ‘riders’ associated with companies such as Glovo or Delivero, although they are called ‘drivers’ in Wagongo. “Your relationship with the company can be of two types”, details. On the one hand a contract for those who want to be part of the team as their own staff. Moreover, “we give you our electric tricycle, which is our feature, so that they make their deliveries of a fully innovative and sustainable vehicle,” he defends.
The second option is that these carriers can be “autonomous or legal persons who have been determined by law, and that they have a transport vehicle or a fleet, meaning that they have their time and work.”
For now, the company has six operational three -roads, although its plans are being expanded by the fleet. His first base is located in Madrid, although his project exists before the end of the year in Sevilla and even Barcelona.
