Patrick Kluivert: Japan "Too big" for Indonesia

Jakarta (Antara) – Indonesian national team coach Patrick Kluiserte responded to the defeat of his team about Japan, because he thought the Samurai biru team was “too big” for his team.

Japan, in 15th place in the world, destroyed Indonesia in the 123rd place in the world in the Suita Stadium, Osaka Prefecture on Tuesday with a 6-0 win. Not only winning, Japan, also dominated the course of the game with 22 total shots and gave no chance to shoot for Indonesia.

“Japan is too big for us tonight. We have to admit it and continue,” said Kluisivert during a press conference after the post -match, quoted from the audio recordings that were received in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Daichi Kamada (15 ‘, 45+5’) and Takefusa Kubo (19 ‘) ensured that Japan led three goals in the first round. Kluisert made changes in the second half, but did not change the course of the match significantly.

The Samurai Biru children again added three goals in the second half via Roya Morishita (55 ‘), Shuto Machino (58’) and Mao Hosoya (80 ‘). This defeat has been the third defeat of Indonesia of Japan since 2024.

Of the three games, Indonesia admitted 13 times and could only score one goal. In the meantime, one goal was shot by Sandy Walsh when the Garuda team lost 1-3 to Samurai Biru in the Asian Cup 2023 last January.

In comment on how the game, Kluivert said that his foster children could serve Japanese games in the first 10 minutes. However, the quality of Japan as a World Cup subscription team did not make Indonesia afterwards.

The World Cup 2026 is the eighth World Cup for Wataru Endo and his friends since their debut in 1998. Their best performance in the largest football tournament reached the round of 16 four times in 2002, 2010, 2018 and 2022.

“I think the first few minutes are good with us. This team, I said it yesterday, has a lot of quality. And this is the level of the World Cup. That’s right. Individual and collective. A great team. What else can I say? Of course I am very disappointed about the results. Also for the country, Indonesia,” he concluded.
