The Circus Performance

“In praise of shadows”, Parkteaern

The last summers The program of the Park Theater was a bit artistically tired. It has usually offered reprints and half -hearted adjustments of existing outdoor games. Perhaps financial efforts have been right. But when this year’s season opens in Vitabergparken in Södermalm with the premiere of the circus performance “in praise of shadows”, the order is restored. It feels as generous and luxurious again as during the heyday of the Park Theater.

Circus company under zero Holds, literally and purely physically, such a high level that it now “just” hangs on the weather gods, exactly how Canon can be this theater summer in the parks of Stockholm. But despite its cool -sounding name, this company offers so much warmth, poetic balance and breathtaking energy that it certainly also compensates for cooler again.

On stage there are seven excellent circus artists, two girls and five boys, as well as two incredible live musicians. The percussionist Mischa And the violinist Anna Möller Offers folk music -Contributed sounds in creative and super striking packages that vary from Polish to Sambary Rhythm.

All wear linen costumes in light natural colors, designed by Jonna Bergelin Who also created the scenography, and for an hour the stage turns into an enchanted glide in the green of the park, where a strong feeling of northern playful but at the same time sad and timeless folk -mystics is evoked. Two male paracroats rumbles in and seem to try to help each other with a wet midsummer festival in a charming good balance design of imbalance and tenderness.

Choreographer Thomas Steyaert have the directors and paracro bats together Sara Runsten And Axel AHL In addition to the other ensemble, a rhythmically safe and fascinating musical dance form that is entirely based on acrobatics, technology and interaction – almost without tools or appendices.

The focus is on the performance of these skilled bodies in both couples and large group constellations and the strange number of the ensemble offers a natural element of social friction. Something that culminates in a scene in which the remaining Acrobat manifests its exclusion by dissatisfied with the perfect balance acts of the three even artist couple. Please for a cunning banknote lesson in the weight of inclusion!

The stage photo is simple But effectively adapted for this summer’s outside tour, with a number of sharp water -blue -green side that can be interpreted as a piece of stylized natural patterns. Maybe waves, upside down iced iced or spruce forests. On stage, the laws of nature are also well defined with daring jumps of the rear rig and seemingly weightless, acrobatic throws and stretch salts.

A blue -green -flamboyant fabric is unfolded like in a dazzling water over the stage. I know later that the real premiere was unfortunately struck by real water in the form of a rainfall, but when I see the genre the day before the premiere plays the evening sun as a light designer perfectly and sprinkle elegantly elegant through the foliage of vitaberg parks. Such as in a symbolic emphasis on the title of the version.
