Mount Semeru outburst accompanied from an eruption to 1,000 m above peak



The community may not carry out activities at a distance of 500 meters from the river bank

Lumajang, East Java (Antara) – Mount Semeru who is located on the border of Lumajang and Malang, East Java outburst accompanied by an eruption of an eruption up to 1,000 meters above peak on Tuesday morning.

“There was an eruption of Mount Semeru on Tuesday 10 June 2025, at 05.47 WIB with the height of the eruption column that was observed about 1,000 meters above peak or 4,676 meters above sea level,” said Mount Semeru Observation Post Officer, Mukdas Sofian received in Lumajang.

According to him, the Ash Column was observed as white to gray with a thick intensity southwest. The highest mountain eruption on the island of Java was included in a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 22 mm and a duration of 191 seconds.

From January 1 to June 10 at 7 am CIR, there were 1,799 times the number of eruption of Mount Semeru, so that the activity of the volcano was dominated every day by an earthquake/eruption.

He explained that Mount Semeru was still alert, so that the volcanology and the geological disaster limitation center (PVMBG) gave a number of recommendations, namely that the community was forbidden to perform any activity in the southeastern sector along the Kobokan Besuk to eight kilometers of the peak (Eruption Center).

“Outside this distance, the community is not allowed to carry out activities at a distance of 500 meters from the river bank (river border) along the visiting Kobokan, because it has the potential to be influenced by the expansion of hot clouds and lavstrooms to a distance of 13 kilometers from the peak,” he said.

The community is also advised not to be active in a radius of three kilometers from the crater/peak of Mount Semeru because it is susceptible to the dangers of light bulbs.

The community must be aware of the potential of hot clouds, lava traps and rain lava along the river/valley flow whose water flows on the peak of Mount Semeru, especially along the visiting Kobokan, Besuk Bang, twin visitors and Besuk Sat, as well as the potential of lava who are trendar that trendaries in small rivers.
