Indonesia believes that the world of work should be built fairly and strongly to take on different global challenges
Jakarta (Antara) – Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Yassierli emphasized the importance of justice and protection for employees and economic growth in the 113rd International Labor Conference (ILC) Plenary session in Geneva, Switzerland, Tuesday WIB.
“Indonesia believes that the world of work should be built fairly and strongly to take on different global challenges,” the menaker said from an official statement in Jakarta.
In the presence of the Member States of the International Labor Organization (ILO), Yassierli also responded to the report of the director -general of IAO, who today emphasized the many problems in the world of work, such as increasing unemployment, social inequality and economic uncertainty. According to him, this situation was also felt by Indonesia and had to be treated together.
The Indonesian government, said Yassierli, continues to try to open more fair and sustainable jobs. The most important focus is aimed at the younger generation and vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities.
“For this reason, the government is developing an industrial work training and student program so that the ability of job seekers is in accordance with the needs of the current and future business world,” the Menaker said.
In addition to creating employment, Indonesia also pays a lot of attention to the protection of employees.
Yassierli said that under the leadership of Prabowo Subianto, the government strengthened social security and the safety and health system, including protection against new risks such as occupational diseases.
Moreover, the government also encourages informal employees to switch to the formal sector so that they can get better rights and protection.
“The sector of the green and digital economy also started to work as a new source of new jobs that are more feasible and more sustainable,” said Yassierli.
In terms of economic growth, they said that Indonesia believes that productivity is the key. However, this growth must have a real impact on all parties, both employees and entrepreneurs.
“I emphasize the importance of a balanced social dialogue, so that the interests of both parties can be housed. Included in the digital economy sector, such as online motorcycle taxi or application courier, the government wants to ensure that technological progress does not sacrifice the rights of employees,” Yassierli said.
Moreover, the Menaker also expressed the full support of Indonesia for the Palestinian people who were confronted with a humanitarian crisis.
He said that Indonesia fully supports the ILO Emergency Plan to open vacancies for those affected by conflicts.
“It’s time for the world to work with the spirit of solidarity and care for people. Indonesia is ready to participate,” he said.
