Jakarta (Antara) – Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Ladahalia has asked that the community is wise to see the current conditions of Piaynemo Island and Gag Island in Raja Ampat, which is accused of contaminated on the basis of a number of uploads of social media.

While showing photos with the damage and bare of the forest with the label the words “Hoax” red, Bahlil explained that Piayntemo as the center of tourism on the Raja Ampat Islands was accused of experiencing environmental damage.

“These are the last photos in Piaynemo. So please my brothers and sisters in the country and his water,” said Bahlil in a press conference at the presidential office, Jakarta Presidential Palace, Tuesday.

Bahlil continued: “If we respond to different information, be careful. We must be wise, can distinguish between the truth, which is not true. Because we all want to be good for Indonesia.”

After the issue of Raja Ampat was busy because of a mining company, he immediately visited the field and saw the condition of Piaynebeiro Island and Gag Island through air monitoring.

During his visit, Bahlil discovered that the condition of the island of Piaynemo and the GAG ​​island in Raja Ampat Regency and a number of islands in the district did not experience environmental damage.

While showing a video of air monitoring on Gag Island, Bahlil was of the opinion that the condition of the island was not polluted and PT Gag Nickel because the only mining company that was active on the island had run a company in accordance with the analysis of environmental impact documents (Amdal).

When visiting Gag Island, Bahlil also met a number of locals who inhabited the island with a total of 700 people from 300 families (KK).

From the area of ​​13.136 hectares of Gag Island, Bahlil explained that the PT Gag Nickel Mining Company only opened mining activities on the island for an area of ​​260 hectares, and 130 hectare had been recovered.

Based on the ambitions of local community leaders, as well as the regional government, the government has also withdrawn four Mining Company Licenses (IUP) that are outside of Gag Island, namely PT Nurham, PT Anugrah Surya first, PT Kaei Sejhtera -Mijnbouw and PT Mulia Raymond Perkasa.

The IUP who continues to work is PT Gag Nickel that the RKAB had in 2025 and has been a work contract since 1998.
