MOSKOU (Antara) – The Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg stated that Israeli troops kidnapped him during the auxiliary mission to Gaza in a video speech published on Monday, and calls for pressure on Sweden to free volunteers.
“We are intercepted and abducted in international waters by Israeli troops or troops that support Israel. I insist on all my friends, family and friends to put pressure on the Swedish government to free me and the others as quickly as possible,” said Thurnberg published in a video published by Freedom Flotilla Coalition, who manages the ship.
Reuters previously reported that the Israeli army went on board the Madleen cruise ship, which was on board Thunberg and other volunteers to the Gaza Strip, then the communication channel was cut off with the ship.
The Israeli foreign authorities then said that the ship was sailing to the coast of the Zionist country and that all passengers were expected to return to their country.
Israel accused Thunberg of trying to do a ‘media provocation’, but stated that humanitarian aid on the ship would still be sent to the Gaza Strip via the existing humanitarian tract.
In addition to Thunberg, the British flag-driven Madleen also brought around ten other Pro-Palestinian volunteers. The ship sailed from Egypt to the Gaza Strip.
The volunteers themselves stated that they were heading for the pocket area in a humanitarian mission.
Israeli authorities interpret the actions of the volunteers as an attempt to cause broad public anger and to promote anti-Israeli feelings in the world in the midst of conflict and humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
